Lock Up (1989) is an action-packed prison drama directed by John Flynn and starring Sylvester Stallone. The story follows Frank Leone (Stallone), a mechanic nearing the end of his prison sentence, who is suddenly transferred to a maximum-security prison overseen by a corrupt and vengeful warden.
Sylvester Stallone portrays Frank Leone, the determined protagonist, while Donald Sutherland plays Warden Drumgoole, the cruel antagonist with a personal grudge against Leone. John Amos appears as Captain Meissner, a compassionate prison guard, and Tom Sizemore and Frank McRae play fellow inmates who support Leone.

The film revolves around Leone’s fight for survival as Drumgoole imposes harsh conditions in a bid to break him. Themes of justice, revenge, and resilience are explored as Leone struggles to maintain his dignity and freedom, despite Drumgoole’s relentless attempts to crush his spirit.

Although Lock Up didn’t achieve widespread critical acclaim, it gained a loyal fan base among Stallone’s action films due to its gritty atmosphere, tense confrontations, and its portrayal of perseverance in the face of overwhelming adversity.
