Cobra (1986) is a wild ride through the underbelly of Los Angeles, directed by George P. Cosmatos and starring the legendary Sylvester Stallone as Lieutenant Marion “Cobra” Cobretti. Picture this: Stallone as a grizzled cop who doesn’t play by the rules—mostly because he lost the rulebook and can’t find his reading glasses.

The plot thickens when Cobra is assigned to protect a key witness, Ingrid Knudsen (Brigitte Nielsen), who unfortunately had the misfortune of witnessing a gang of serial killers, a.k.a. the “New World,” led by the wonderfully named Night Slasher (Brian Thompson). It’s like they took the term “bad guys” and cranked it up to eleven while wearing leather jackets and sporting some serious 80s hairstyles.

As Cobra tries to keep Ingrid safe, he finds himself not just battling the ruthless gang but also the bureaucracy of the LAPD, who seem to prefer paperwork over actually catching criminals. Talk about a tough crowd! The film is packed with jaw-dropping action sequences, from car chases that could give a rollercoaster a run for its money to shootouts that make you wonder if Stallone ever learned to duck.

Known for its gritty aesthetic and over-the-top shenanigans, Cobra is basically the epitome of 80s action. With memorable lines like “You’re the disease, and I’m the cure,” it’s no surprise this film has developed a cult following. So, if you’re in the mood for a flick where logic takes a backseat and explosions are the main course, grab your popcorn and buckle up for a dose of Stallone-style justice!
