Monster-in-Law 2 (2025) – Comedy, Romance

Monster-in-Law 2 brings the hilariously chaotic dynamic between the lovable protagonist and her overbearing mother-in-law back for another round of laughs, drama, and unexpected bonding. Jennifer Lopez reprises her role as Charlie, a woman who thought she had finally found peace with her husband’s (now played by a returning cast member) family, only to find herself once again at odds with her well-meaning but utterly intrusive mother-in-law, played by Jane Fonda.
In this sequel, the two women are thrown together once again when Charlie and her husband, now planning their anniversary celebration, discover they are expecting a baby. The pregnancy announcement becomes the catalyst for even more wild and comedic situations as the future grandmother insists on having a say in every decision, from the baby’s name to the nursery décor. As the tensions escalate, the two women must navigate their differences and ultimately discover new ways to bond in the most unexpected of circumstances.
The film delivers the comedic spark that made the first Monster-in-Law such a hit, with Lopez and Fonda’s chemistry being the heart of the film. Fonda brings her signature wit and charm as the well-meaning, but sometimes too much, mother-in-law, while Lopez balances humor with heart as Charlie learns to assert herself more. Their moments of clash are balanced with moments of tenderness and humor that highlight their evolving relationship.
The storyline is lighthearted but packs emotional depth as both women realize they have more in common than they thought—most notably their shared love for family, despite their differences. The film is filled with laugh-out-loud moments, heartwarming gestures, and plenty of heartfelt lessons on love and tolerance.
