Unstoppable 2 (2025) – Bigger Explosions, Higher Stakes, Same Relentless Speed

Rating: ★★★★☆ (4/5)

Unstoppable 2 roars back onto the screen like a runaway train—and just like the original, it never hits the brakes.

Picking up ten years after the events of the first film, this sequel throws us into the chaos from the first frame. Denzel Washington’s character, Frank Barnes, has retired… or so he thought. When a new AI-controlled freight system malfunctions and sends multiple trains barreling across the Midwest with toxic cargo, there’s only one man the government can call. Spoiler alert: he’s not happy about being back.

This time, he’s joined by rookie train engineer Maya Torres (played by Zendaya), who brings a new-school edge to Frank’s old-school grit. Their chemistry is solid, the tension is real, and the stakes? They’re off the charts.

Director Antoine Fuqua returns with a vengeance, dialing up the intensity and giving audiences what they came for: non-stop action, breathtaking stunts, and a thundering score that will rattle your seat. There’s a sequence involving a collapsing bridge, two trains, and a helicopter that has to be seen to be believed.

Sure, some of the plot feels a bit over-the-top, and there are moments where physics takes a backseat to fun—but who’s complaining?

Unstoppable 2 isn’t just a sequel. It’s a full-throttle, steel-crunching thrill ride that proves sometimes, lightning can strike twice.

Best for: Fans of the original, adrenaline junkies, and anyone who thinks trains are too quiet these days.
