Logan (2017)

Logan, directed by James Mangold, is a gritty and emotional farewell to Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine, a role he played for nearly two decades. Set in a dystopian near future, the film follows an aging and weary Logan as he cares for a frail Professor X (Patrick Stewart) while hiding from the world. When a young mutant named Laura (Dafne Keen) comes into their lives, Logan must confront his past and protect her from the forces that seek to capture her.
Unlike previous entries in the X-Men franchise, Logan is a more grounded and somber film, focusing on character development and the consequences of a lifetime of violence. Jackman delivers one of his best performances, portraying Logan as a broken man grappling with his fading powers and the loss of his loved ones. The film’s R-rating allows for brutal action scenes that highlight the rawness of Logan’s struggles. Logan was widely praised by critics and audiences alike for its mature storytelling, powerful performances, and fitting conclusion to Wolverine’s story, cementing it as one of the best superhero films of all time.
