Coma (2019)

Coma (2019), directed by Nikita Argunov, is a visually arresting Russian sci-fi thriller that plunges viewers into a surreal and dystopian world where the boundaries of reality and imagination blur. The story follows Viktor (Rinal Mukhametov), a young architect who awakens in a strange, futuristic city after a life-altering accident. Viktor soon learns that he is trapped in an otherworldly realm populated by people in comasβ€”individuals being exploited for a dark, experimental purpose.

Guided by his intense curiosity and a burning desire to understand the truth, Viktor allies himself with Olga (Lyubov Aksyonova), a rebellious and determined young woman also trapped in this mysterious reality. Together, they embark on a treacherous journey through the twisted corridors and sprawling, distorted landscapes of Coma. As they face strange obstacles and cryptic puzzles, the two encounter The Director (Anton Pampushnyy), an enigmatic overseer who holds the key to the secrets of this bizarre world.

The film captivates with its stunning cinematography and inventive world-building, immersing viewers in a mind-bending landscape where gravity defies logic, structures shift unpredictably, and every corner hides new perils. Coma goes beyond action, delving into thought-provoking questions about the nature of consciousness, reality, and identity, as Viktor and Olga grapple with what it truly means to be aliveβ€”or, in their case, trapped in a coma.

Blending mystery, suspense, and psychological thriller elements, Coma offers a hypnotic journey into a futuristic nightmare where reality itself is the greatest puzzle of all.
