THE RAID 3 (2024)๐ฅ๐ฅ
“The Raid” is a 2011 Indonesian action thriller film written, directed, and edited by Gareth Evans. The film stars Iko Uwais, who previously collaborated with Evans on the 2009 action film “Merantau.” In “The Raid,” an elite squad is tasked with infiltrating a high-rise building in the Jakarta slums controlled by a ruthless drug lord, with Uwais playing Rama, a veteran team member.
Following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), “The Raid” received positive critical acclaim.
In the United States, the film’s title was changed to “The Raid: Redemption” as Sony Pictures Classics, the distributor, could not secure the original title rights; this also allowed Evans to plan future titles for the series. The U.S. release of the film features a score composed by Mike Shinoda and Joseph Trapanese and was made available on DVD and Blu-ray on August 14, 2012. A sequel, “The Raid 2,” was released in 2014. Both films prominently feature the traditional Indonesian martial art of pencak silat, with fight choreography by Uwais and Yayan Ruhian. A third film was considered but Evans ultimately decided not to pursue the project.
