Split Second (1992)

Split Second is a gripping sci-fi action thriller directed by Tony Maylam, starring the charismatic Rutger Hauer as Detective Harley Stone. Set in a dystopian future version of London in 2008, the film immerses viewers in a crime-ridden city ravaged by constant flooding. Stone, a tough, no-nonsense cop, is haunted by the unsolved disappearance of his partner, a mystery that continues to weigh heavily on him as he navigates a dark and chaotic city.

When a series of brutal, gruesome murders begins terrorizing London, Stone suspects a

monstrous, supernatural entity is responsible. However, his claims are met with skepticism by his fellow officers. Undeterred, Stone takes matters into his own hands, determined to find the killer before it strikes again. He is soon partnered with rookie Detective Lottie, played by Kim Cattrall, and the two form an unlikely but effective duo as they dive deeper into the mystery. Together, they must face not only the savage killings but the unseen predator lurking in the shadows, a creature far more terrifying than they could have imagined.

Blending action, horror, and a touch of dark humor, Split Second is packed with intense chase scenes, gritty urban environments, and Rutger Hauer’s standout performance as a hardened detective with a score to settle.
