Plot Summary:
The film follows Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster), a young FBI trainee who is assigned to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a brilliant but imprisoned cannibalistic serial killer. The FBI hopes that Lecter’s insights into the mind of a killer will help them capture another serial killer, known as Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine), who is currently on the loose and abducting young women.
As Clarice engages with Lecter, she must navigate his manipulative and enigmatic personality. Lecter, who is imprisoned in a high-security facility, agrees to help Clarice but only if she shares personal details about her own life. Through a series of psychological games and exchanges, Lecter provides clues about Buffalo Bill’s identity, while simultaneously challenging Clarice’s own psychological boundaries.
