30 Days of Night (2007)

Josh Hartnett, Melissa George
30 Days of Night (2007) is a horror-thriller directed by David Slade, based on the comic book series of the same name by Steve Niles and Ben Templesmith. Set in the remote town of Barrow, Alaska, the story centers on a unique and terrifying scenario: every winter, Barrow suffers a month-long polar night, leaving the town in complete darkness for 30 days. During this prolonged night, a group of vampires, led by the ruthless Marlow (Danny Huston), raids the town, seeing it as the perfect hunting ground where they can feed without fear of sunlight.

Josh Hartnett plays Sheriff Eben Oleson, who, along with his ex-wife, Stella (Melissa George), and a small group of survivors, must fight for survival as vampires systematically terrorize and decimate the town. The vampires in 30 Days of Night are depicted as monstrous, swift, and cruel, with an insatiable hunger and no compassion for their human prey. This portrayal of vampires as brutal, animal-like creatures revitalizes the vampire genre, moving away from romanticized vampire stereotypes in favor of pure terror.
