🎬 Home Alone (1990)

Home Alone is a beloved Christmas comedy film directed by Chris Columbus and written by John Hughes. The story centers on Kevin McCallister, an 8-year-old boy from a large and chaotic family living in a suburb of Chicago. As the McCallisters prepare for a family trip to Paris for the holidays, tensions run high, and Kevin ends up arguing with his relatives. After a particularly bad fight with his older brother Buzz, Kevin is sent to sleep in the attic as punishment. That night, a power outage resets the household’s alarm clocks, causing the entire family to oversleep and rush to the airport in a frenzy the next morning. In the confusion, Kevin is accidentally left behind. At first, Kevin is thrilled to have the house all to himself. He eats junk food, watches movies he’s normally not allowed to, and does whatever he wants. However, his joy is short-lived when he discovers that two local burglars, Harry and Marv, are targeting the neighborhood—and his house is next on their list. Realizing he must protect his home, Kevin sets up an elaborate series of traps to outsmart the burglars. These traps, while comedic and over-the-top, are surprisingly effective. As Harry and Marv try to break in, they’re met with painful and humiliating surprises at every turn—from burning doorknobs and swinging paint cans to icy stairs and tar-covered floors.Meanwhile, Kevin’s mother, Kate, realizes mid-flight that Kevin is missing and becomes desperate to return home. After arriving in Paris and finding no immediate flights back, she travels across Europe and eventually catches a ride with a kind polka band back to Chicago. On Christmas morning, after successfully defending the house and spending a lonely but brave night on his own, Kevin wakes up to find his mother has returned. Shortly after, the rest of the family arrives, and they are joyfully reunited. Kevin keeps his battle with the burglars mostly to himself, and the film ends on a warm, heartfelt note.Related Movies:
