Movie Review: Death Curve (2015)
⭐️⭐️⭐️½☆ (3.5/5)

Death Curve (2015) is a stylish, suspense-filled horror-thriller that delivers old-school slasher vibes with a modern psychological twist. Directed by indie filmmaker Lena Grayson, the film takes a seemingly simple premise — a deadly mountain road with a dark past — and turns it into a tense, atmospheric ride.

The story follows a group of college friends on a weekend road trip who take a detour through the infamous Raven’s Pass, a winding cliffside route known as “Death Curve” due to a series of unexplained accidents. When their car crashes and one of them disappears, it becomes clear they’re not alone — and something far more sinister is lurking in the fog.

While the plot may not reinvent the genre, Death Curve stands out with its sharp cinematography, clever pacing, and a few genuinely chilling moments. The film smartly avoids overusing jump scares and instead builds tension through eerie silence, creepy folklore, and isolation.

Emma Bell leads the cast with a strong performance as Claire, the group’s skeptical yet resourceful protagonist. The supporting cast is solid, though some characters fall into classic horror archetypes (the skeptic, the joker, the one who wanders off alone…).

The third act veers into psychological territory, raising questions about guilt, trauma, and whether the real “curse” of Death Curve is something buried deep within. It’s not perfect — a few plot holes and a somewhat abrupt ending keep it from greatness — but overall, it’s a satisfying and suspenseful watch for horror fans.
