Constantine 2 (2025)

Regarding Constantine 2, screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, in an interview with The Deadline, highlighted that the character aligns with Keanu Reeves’ portrayal. The movie will continue exploring the nuanced world of good and evil, reminiscent of the authentic noir style from the first film. The script is still evolving, and Goldsman hinted at maintaining the theme of preserving the delicate balance between the earthly and hellish realms. Possibilities include a direct sequel involving the return of Tilda Swinton’s character, Gabriel, despite her initial absence from Constantine (2005).
In 2005, Keanu Reeves took on the role of the supernatural exorcist and demonologist John Constantine in the DC universe. The movie left an audience in awe, sparking a desire for Reeves to reprise his role as Constantine. Now, after 18 years, it looks like our childhood dream of seeing Keanu battling demons is becoming a reality. The Hollywood Reporter recently confirmed that Francis Lawrence, the director of the first Constantine movie, is working on Constantine 2.
When can we expect Constantine 2 in theaters? With James Gunn currently steering the DCU ship, his upcoming projects include Superman Legacy and “Batman Brave and The Bold.” There’s a possibility that Constantine might find a place in the DC Elseworld Universe, possibly coinciding with “The Batman.”
Alternatively, it could follow Superman Legacy in the DCU timeline. Given these considerations, if work on Constantine 2 kicks off by Thanksgiving, we might see a release date by late 2025 or mid-2026, allowing James Gunn to seamlessly integrate Constantine into future DCU ventures.
