Movie Review: Another Me (2013)
⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)

Another Me (2013) is a slow-burning psychological thriller that toys with identity, fear, and the unnerving feeling of being watched by… yourself. While it never fully unleashes the horror it hints at, it delivers enough atmosphere and intrigue to keep you second-guessing until the final frame.

Set in a sleepy British town drenched in overcast skies and shadows, the film follows Fay (Sophie Turner), a high school student whose life begins to unravel when she suspects someone — or something — is impersonating her. Her grades slip, her friendships crack, and her sense of reality begins to blur. Is she losing her mind, or is there truly “another her” walking around, ruining her life from the inside out?

Sophie Turner, in one of her earliest leading roles, gives a committed performance. She captures the confusion and emotional weight of a teenager trying to make sense of a reality that’s no longer stable. Her portrayal of both Fay and her doppelgänger is subtle but effective, never slipping into cliché.

Visually, Another Me leans hard into its gothic tone. Hallways stretch too long, mirrors linger too long, and everything feels just a bit… off. The atmosphere is the real star here — foggy parks, creaky staircases, and distorted reflections that make you want to glance over your shoulder.

But while the setup is strong, the story doesn’t quite stick the landing. The pacing stutters in the middle, and some of the plot points feel underdeveloped or vaguely explained. You keep waiting for a major twist or reveal that never fully pays off. That said, it’s more about mood than jump scares, and for those who like their thrillers quiet, introspective, and eerie, this one might scratch the itch.

Final Thoughts: Another Me is a stylish, haunting experience that explores identity and paranoia with a gentle, surreal touch. It’s not the most terrifying film you’ll watch, but it just might leave you questioning your reflection… and who’s really looking back.
