๐ฌJiu Jitsu (2020)
Jiu Jitsu (2020) is an action-packed sci-fi martial arts film directed by Dimitri Logothetis. The story follows a group of skilled martial artists who are engaged in a battle against an extraterrestrial threat.
Jiu Jitsu is a sci-fi martial arts action film that follows Jake Barnes (Alain Moussi), a skilled fighter who suffers from amnesia and discovers he is part of an ancient order of warriors. Every six years, a group of fighters must battle Brax, an alien warlord who arrives on Earth through a portal to challenge Earth’s best warriors in hand-to-hand combat. If they refuse, Brax will destroy humanity.
Directed by Dimitri Logothetis, Jiu Jitsu aims to blend martial arts with science fiction in a Predator-style showdown. While the concept is intriguing, the execution falls flat due to weak storytelling, inconsistent pacing, and low-quality CGI.
The film does offer some entertaining fight sequences, particularly from Tony Jaa and Frank Grillo, who bring their martial arts expertise to the screen. However, Nicolas Cageโs over-the-top performance, combined with a disjointed plot and lackluster dialogue, makes the film feel more like a B-movie than a serious sci-fi action thriller.
Jiu Jitsu might appeal to fans of campy action films looking for mindless entertainment with fun fight choreography.
A messy mix of martial arts and sci-fiโJiu Jitsu delivers some fun action scenes but lacks the storytelling and polish to make it truly memorable.
