**”Mad Max: Fury Road” (2015)** follows the story of Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), a lone wanderer haunted by his past. He encounters the War Boys of the tyrannical Immortan Joe (Hugh Keays-Byrne) and is captured, turned into a “blood bag” for a sickly War Boy named Nux (Nicholas Hoult). Immortan Joe controls the water supply in his dystopian fortress, a society characterized by brutality and oppression.
Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a high-ranking commander in Joe’s regime, seizes an opportunity to escape with Joe’s five wivesโ€”whom he considers breeding machinesโ€”aiming to reach the “Green Place,” a rumored safe haven. Joe discovers her escape and pursues her with his entire army. During the chase, a massive sandstorm hits.

After the storm, Max wakes up in a vehicle with the unconscious Nux. He encounters Furiosa, and they engage in a fierce fight. Max emerges victorious and takes control of the War Rig, but realizes he needs Furiosa to operate it. He reluctantly allows her and the five wives to join him, leaving Nux behind.
As they flee from Joe and his tribes, Max, Furiosa, the surviving wives (one has died), and Nuxโ€”who has developed feelings for one of the wives, Capableโ€”work together. They eventually reach the “Green Place,” only to find it has become a wasteland. Furiosa and the wives, along with the Vuvalini tribe (Furiosa’s people), decide to search for a new home. Max advises Furiosa to return to Joe’s stronghold, warning that further travel would lead to nothing but salt and sand.
They head back to the fortress, pursued by Joe and his tribes. Furiosa is severely injured, and during a battle with Joe’s giant son, she asks Nux to drive the War Rig while she confronts Joe. Furiosa ultimately defeats Joe, killing him on his own vehicle.
