Vikings || Warriors
Viking warriors were seafaring Norsemen from Scandinavia, active between the late 8th and early 11th centuries. Renowned for their martial skill, they combined ferocity in battle with advanced weaponry such as swords, axes, spears, and shields. They often fought in tight formations and employed shock tactics during raids.
Viking warriors adhered to a warrior code emphasizing bravery, loyalty, and honor, influenced by Norse mythology and the idea of an honorable death leading to Valhalla. Many were part of raiding parties, but some served as mercenaries, including the famed Varangian Guard in Byzantium.
Their distinctive appearance included long hair, beards, and tunics, with protective gear like helmets and chainmail for wealthier warriors. Despite their violent reputation, they also valued kinship and displayed tactical discipline in battle.
