Movie: Flight of the Intruder (1991)
Following the death of a fellow bombardier, Jake “Cool Hand” Grafton (Brad Johnson) starts to question the morality of war and his role in it. This leads him to connect with Virgil Cole (Willem Dafoe), a bombardier on his third tour of duty. Together, they plan an unauthorized air strike on Hanoi.
Bomber Pilots Make History
“Flight of the Intruder” features an early standout performance from Willem Dafoe, who shines as the battle-hardened Virgil Cole. The rest of the cast complements the production well, despite the script’s minor flaws that relegated “Flight of the Intruder” to a lesser-known status among aerial war films. Nevertheless, the film offers substantial quality, particularly for aviation enthusiasts, with its detailed depiction of Vietnam War aircraft like the A-6 Intruder and Douglas Skyraider taking center stage in many action scenes (footage from the film was even used in “Hot Shots!”). You can stream “Flight of The Intruder” on Pluto TV.
